Bandit 400 Red Color
« on: February 05, 2006, 02:50:34 PM »
Did Suzuki change the hue of the Bandit 400 red over the years? I recently acquired a tank with what looks to be the original paint, yet the red hue is yellower than that of my '93 B4, which is more of a (magenta-ish) bluish red.

I can't really imagine this tank being repainted, if it was, it's a pretty good job, in keeping the gold Suzuki logo layered under a clear coat, and all that.

I guess I'll have to live with this tank as is, as I've needed to replace my existing tank for quite a while now (leaking fuel), so this is what it is. It'll probably ghetto-ized the look of the bike, tho. However, I'm curious as to whether Suzuki changed the red hue on the B4 over time, or if somebody repainted it rather well except for the "minor" detail of actually matching the B4 red hue.

Thanks for any info on this.

I also have a '93 and my tank is redder than the frame, but I am not the original owner, so I can't really say if the bike came from the factory with the differences in color. If your tanks are of different colors, maybe Suzuki did change the colors slightly over the years.

Differences in oxidaton could also account for different shades.

That's one hell of an oxidation if it is! Thief, how do you know the colors were changed? Not that I don't believe you (the tank certainly seems to bear it out), but I'm curious. Thanks.

It's common knowlege amung 400 freeks   lmao. The true story is some kids tryed to steal my bike years ago with a skate board under the front wheel  cause the forks were lock and dumped the bike at the end of my driveway. Did alot of damage including my 1/4 faring. Dealer could only get one in 93 red and thats when he and I found out that there had been a color change.
