air leak on the intakes /bad o rings / mixture screws set wrong/ cables catching on somthing not adjusted right.

or could be as simple as they need balancing

just a few things to keep you going

id start with balancing if youve had them apart

not had the carbs seperated just of fromt he bike.

wont be the cables becouse it settles itsself without me having to move anything.

how can i balance the carbs then?

im going to take the air box of tomorropw and check it all out then make sure its not a air leak.

could the thorttle slides be sticking ?

you need a set of carb balancing gauges  home made (do a search for carb sync) or shop bought

there are 4 little nipples on the top of the carbs with covers on them . The gauges connect to these and the carbs are adjusted using the small screws between the carb bodys

as for the cables it could be sticking and slowly returning when where they last lubed? somthing else to check?

I'm guessing vac leak (are you sure you got all 4 little o-rings back where they belong under the caps?), A/F settings (did you mess with the a/f screws?) or being out of balance.

They prevent vacuum leaks at the carb-synching ports.  You probably had enough gunk up there to prevent a leak and then when you cleaned them up.... you've got a leak.  I'm not sure what the size is.  The search function is your friend.  It's been listed in this forum at some point.  Good luck.

Oh and yes, missing it would cause the exact problem you describe.

Dont use silicone or gasket sealer on the balance ports you'll need them to sort the carbs out properlly and for general maintanence so filling them up is not a good idea. B&Q or halfords sell o rings any car spares shop or even a bike dealers will have/be able to get you them.

not being funny so please dont take this the wrong way but you have found the downloadable manual havnt you?  and read it;)
