Bandit Alley Track Day favor to ask . .
« on: January 05, 2006, 01:08:45 PM »
The favor: I can buy tires down in the States for 1/2 the price I pay here. If I come down to this track day, can one of you lads take delivery of some new tires for me and then I can avoid the huge bill I'd get stuck with from customs if I had them shipped to me here in Canada? I'll bring you some real beer.

What track day, are you guys planning something behind my back???

I wanted to let you know these are available on Ebay.  I just bought a set for my track bike with no problems.  I know the rear is a 60 profile instead of a 70 and it did lower the rear height by about 15 mm, but the price is right and the ride height can be easily corrected by installing the original shock links.  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Michelin-Motorcycle-Tire-Pilot-150-110-EX-500-MZ-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35601QQitemZ4601998110

BTW, I wound up making rearsets for the track bike.  Could have bought them for about $400, but instead I went the make it yourself for $1000 route.  What a savings

Oh, way to go Gary - you had to let Russ know about it!!!!   :monkeymoon:  :stickpoke:

Here is a link to the thread over in the General forum about the Bandit track day at Nelsons.

Gary - if you can figure out a way to get it mounted, I should be able to help you with the tires.  Let me know as the date nears.

If I needed just street tires, I would. My B12 has new skins already and the tire for the B4 is a 150 so it's not an off the shelf item in the tire I want at least not in these parts. I bought some Pilot Powers in the US for just over half of what I paid in CND $. I paid about 500.00 CND for two set of tires and last season I paid 400.00 for the one set of the same tire.

We get raped on tire prices here.

I don't mind that it doesn't get mounted. There may even be someone at the track that mounts tires or maybe near by. And thanks. As we get closer to the date I'll order the tires and get in touch with you.

Cheers

Better clarify that offer.  When I got Center Ice a couple years ago, I enjoyed seeing all the ads for the various Canadian beers, but when I tried them, they were nothing special.  Got any recommendations?

I don't know... maybe it's psychological but beer always tastes better to me in Canada.

Didn't intend to hijack this thread, and haven't been to Canada, but I've tried almost anything that's not too obscure in the US, and almost anything from anywhere is better than the rice beers, particularly the lite rice beers.  A lot of the US "imports" like the Chinese Tsing Tao are actually Canadian imports rather than brewed overseas.

just checked and i paid $225 for MEZ4's installed.

end of line i know but i like them alot.

and WOW it was two years ago   time flies when you get old.

the U.S. beers we brew here are better than the ones in the U.S. so maybe they are brewing some Canadian beers in the U.S. as a watered down version????

Beer is a lot like wine or coffee...you can try to meet someone else's expectations, or you can drink what you like.Personally, most mainstream American beers don't have enough flavor for me and I would rather have something else than a lite beer.  I liken 'em heavy and full-bodied.  (Unlike my women.)  My original comments about Canadian beers were intended to mean only that the Molsen-type products that we can get in the lower 48 aren't any better than the Mich Amber Bocks and Killian's...a notch above Bud and the like, very drinkable, but hardly gourmet.

Meanwhile...will somebody help Gary with his request for tires?
