Thinking about part ex'ing the B4....But...
« on: October 02, 2009, 10:18:29 AM »
I saw a CBR600f2 today. £1300 Quite high mileage 30k, but looked in good condition. The guy said he would have a look at the bandit if i wanted to do a deal.
But....The little bandit has never let me down, and is great in traffic and i love throwing it around corners. All it lacks is that acceleration above 70mph.
Is the CBR going to be as loveable as my little bandito ?

Nevar!

Seriously, he might give £300 for the Bandit?  So, does this mean you're thinking about using £1000 to replace one old bike with another old bike?  Personally, I'd keep the B4 and add a second, faster bike if possible at all.

Whats that you say " keep the bandit AND buy the cbr".....
I havent been up to see the guy as its raining today, but i would have to see how much he is prepared to do for part ex.
I was thinking £1k part ex plus £3-400 and walk away with the bike, but like you say he might be thinking the other way around.

I'd say he'll offer £500 max for the B4, the F2 is a good bike and will feel a lot quicker than than the B4.

Hahahaha!  Congratulations!

But 1) you were hooked when you started thinking seriously about a new bike and B) I forgot what I else I was going to say.

How much did he offer for the B4?  Mine is my first bike and I was hooked a month in.  That's when I started wondering about a new bike and realised I really wanted to keep the B4 regardless of getting any other bike(s).

I didnt buy the one i was looking at last month, but 1 came up on fleabay, so i put in a bid and won.
Ive got to pick it up now, its on the other side of the country ( which i know is not as big a problem here)
Im going to keep both for a few months and then see what spring brings. I must admit i would feel awful getting rid of the B4. Its never let me down, i might get the GF to pass her test and hand on the baton.

Yes it is.  But don't forget that 'he with the most bikes wins".

Yes! And if you start having your collection of bikes spilling over into living spaces like the kitchen and living room you have finally reached your goal. When I met my wife I lived in a loft and had all my bikes in the living room of the loft. I tried calling them "art" but that didn't go over as well as I thought it would. Bikes now occupy my basement and garage and I seem to get along with the wife better... imagine that.
