Fuel filter leaking, at the outlet side. its a clear filter so i can see the flow

it flows alright through the filter but just leaks out the other end.

It was starting then die'ng and not starting till i left it a bit, then it
would do the same thing.

but now it starts and just leaks fuel.

Does anyone know the UK partnumber for a geniune Filter that would fit it.
or is there a filter that i can buy that will be as good with good conenctions,

it may be a fuel line problem as it my be clogging, but there is no deposits in the fuel filter its perfectly clear!

Im at a lose with this bike

Its such a nice bike its a shame they have so many problems

My bike came standard without a filter. Try running the bike without the filter and see how it goes.

im a bit weary of running without a filter as i dont trust my fuel tank to be 100% clean,

but ill give it a go.

Not a very -good- one, mind you. It's really just there to make sure large bits of whatever don't make it into the carburators. An inline fuel filter is a definate must if you want to make sure the carburators stay clean.

That being said, mine didn't come with one either (and man, were my carbs dirty!). I don't believe any of the US models came with an inline filter. You should be able to pickup an inline filter from any decent auto parts store, just take a length of hose with you and find one that fits. If you are concerned about leaking, you might try and find some small hose clamps too.

I'd also replace the line while you are at it, a lot of times you'll start leaking around the fuel filter nipple when the fuel line has started to become brittle and no longer has enough elastisity to keep itself sealed. You should also be able to get that from an auto parts store, although you may have to look to find clear stuff.

Replacing all the fuel line and filter should run you less than $20

I read you or someone else posting in the past about the advantages of adding an inline fuel filter. Will clear home depot PVC hose be safe enough between the tank and carbs? It states its safe for gasolines on home depot's website. I have it on my old thumper instead of the steel line. I just have so much of the stuff at home. The carb area won't ever get hot enough to effect clear PVC hose right?

I just put a thin cable tie round mine.. works great.. no leaks at all and the filter cost me £1.. bargain!
