CDI questions
« on: May 13, 2008, 02:39:55 PM »
I'm still working on this electrical issue.
Ive switched ou the RR and the bike stays running now and does not shut down when off throttle.
I looked at the spare CDI box I have and it has different numbers than the one in the bike.

in the bike = JO4 32900-10D60
                   BB7258

the spare = 32900-10D00
                 BB7217

What will the difference be?

Max you are correct, the 00 won't work. I just tried it.

Ok------back to the drawing board.

Bike is running fine now but the tac is still not working well.
I'm going to the track to practice on friday so I may change out the coils and see if that helps.
Maybe I have a tack that is going bad.

Thanks

Thanks Jay
I don't want you to start selling off your spares.
I have a spare tac here somewhere. I'm going to swap that and see if that is the problem.
I have the laptop out here in the garage so I can ask you guys questions while I'm working on it.

Id shoot for a loose wire at a connector as rob and others said about coil issues those crimped on power wires are right in the wind and after so much buffeting they break

Thanks for all your help guys.

The spare tac I have is crap. I'll have to get a new one.
I disconnected all the coil wires and cleaned them up.
The bike is not showing any symptoms of missing or running poorly since I switched the rectifier.

So what I need is a spare CDI box . . .any suggestions?

Now I need a spare rectifier also . . . any suggestions?

I'm looking for prime time stuff or better than OEM. I have to get this B4 on the podium.

Cheers

For a spare rectifier my reccomendation is look at new suzuki's im personlly using an 06 gsxr600 one on my bike. although it does require some connector block changing. and you have to join a couple of wires coming outv'e the rectifier.

>>Now I need a spare rectifier also . . . any suggestions?<<

Not directly related but I just had Kawi (!) rectifier put on my B4 when my last rectifier (from a Yamaha ) burnt out.

Needless to say, you can put pretty much almost anything in there. I don't race my bike, but I have to say whatever they put in there put new life into my bike. For instance, I used to have to hold my starter down for a few moments to start the engine up. Now I just blip the sucker and off it goes. Maybe it's all in my mind, but the bike feels more responsive too. Don't know what model they put in there, I suppose I can take a shot of it if anyone's interested and thinks they can ID it.

It's safe to say, however, that if you put a Harley rectifier in there, the bike will slow down.

I don't need coils but I could use the rectifier and the cdi. Where are you located? And how much $$?
