Stalling issue
« on: July 31, 2010, 10:36:03 PM »
Have you guys ever had an instance when you have the idle set good at 1700 rpms, let it run and after about 20 seconds it slowly decreases rpm until it stalls?  This is happening to me today.  Most of the time I can get it to idle smooth down to like 300 rpm, but lately after idling for about 20 or 30 seconds, she dies slowly.  Also i'm only getting 12.6V to the battery when its running.  Now the fact that I'm getting something means that the generator is operating, but the regulator is faulty right?

this was happening to mine when I first got it. I would adjust idle to around 1500 then it would slowly begin to stall until it just shut off. I ended up cleaning the carbs and never again had the problem. The only thing I modified was the epa plug screws. I turned em out 2.75 times and shimmed the needles. Dont know if one or the other or all fixed the stalling issue, but mine doesnt not stall anymore.

Hi Andy,
If your gettin less than 14 Volts across the battery then the reg/rec is shot. Put the tester across the battery and rev the bike to 4000rpm and you should have atleast 14Volts.

I get 12.6 at all rpm.  Time to get a new one.
