« on: July 11, 2008, 02:00:39 PM »
I have been looking everywhere for a fender eliminator kit for my 93 B4 and have not found one. Wondering if you guys know where I can find one or if you have had one custom made.

Thanks!!

mostly I think it's a hacksaw and a little creativity with the drill and so forth.

I never did it, my current one came without a fender. My previous one had a fender... I remember from looking that it appeared to be a couple of hours of thinking and messing around to get it done. Not any great help, but maybe it will inspire you.

I cut mine as well. I used the holes where the original blinkers bolted in as reference points to measure. I then used a ruler and a sharpie to mark where I wanted to cut.

I incorporated the portion of the tail where the plate light bolted in as that is where I would move my plate bracket (the holes for the stock plate bracket and the holes for the plate light bolts are almost exactly the same distance apart). I'm not running a plate light (shhh... don't tell).

I used the blinker bolt holes as my starting points with a reciprocal saw. This makes a mess, for the record.

When I had hacked off what I wanted gone, I just used a file to clean up the plastic fuzzies on the edges.

The plate bracket required 2 medium sized washers on the back as the plate light bolt holes were slightly larger.

Kind of hard to see but here are a few shots that show how I marked things and how much I took off:

The new blinkers in their new home, nice and tight up under the bodywork:

Yeah, I figured I would have to come up with something. I think I know someone that can make a custom one. If so, I will post incase anyone else might be interested.

Thanks for your help!

Slightly off topic, but are those clip-ons standard on the Jap spec bandit as well?  Those are nice... Looks like they mount fairly easily to the standard forks, unless those are longer.  Sorry for the hijack

Yep clip ons also standard but you'd also need the top yoke.

This is a jap spec bike as you can see much tidier as standard.

I'm confused...my bike is a model P and as far as I know it is a US bike. My rear looks just like the one on that bike. Were you refering to the fender or the whole rear end plastic?

I'd like to retain the handle bars. I have back problems and cannot lean anymore than the stock bars. Even then the pain is immense but well worth it to get out and ride!! Especially my Bandit!!

Let me know and thanks again for the info, I appreciate it.

Other than ebay; any suggestions where I might be able to find that fender?

Thanks!

I had to keep mine looking large due to the need of a light for the plate to pass inspection  :annoy:
