Front sprocket cover

Hi All,

I've very much a noob when it comes to working on bikes, so i have a very simple question.

I'm wanting to change the chain on my bandit 250 (year 2000), I'm assuming i have to remove the front sprocket cover to do this?

Upon examining this cover it looks like there is alot more going on around there than just a sprocket cover, hoses comming and going and what not.

Really what i need is a simple guide for changing the chain.

Do i need to remove the cover and whats involved if i do?

If you use a chain tool just pop a rivet, attach new chain loosely, pull through and remove old chain, rivet new one together. Easy.

How do i go about checking the front sprocket under that case?

I have a 1200 but when I checked mine all I did was remove 3-4 allan bolts to access it. Had no issues at all...

Hi Andrew,
You can take the cover off without fear of anything bad happening. If the chain needs changing you will need a set of sprokets also. JE code for the front is 1439 and the rear is 823.

I was wondering this too. It doesn't look like a normal bolt-on cover. Looks as though it's connected to other parts as well. But I don't need to do it yet so haven't looked in detail.
