Sprocket questions & gearing
« on: April 13, 2009, 11:49:15 AM »
Hey everyone,

Hope the weather is nice in your area and you are getting in some riding...

The time has come to change Hangin_biposto's chain & probably the sprockets as well.  Does anyone know if other Suzuki sprockets will fit?  Do they make aftermarket front sprokets that will work, or do I have to fork over $$ at the dealer for a front one?

Also, she has a 91 which has the 47 tooth rear.  We are looking to make the gearing a little taller to make highway trips a little easier.  Anyone running a 45 or 44 tooth rear?  How do you like the gearing?

Thanks for any info...

I believe I have SunStar sprockets on mine now. Steel counter and aluminum rear. Vortex should also make sprockets. There should be a number of brands. Any bike shop should be able to get them for you.My bikes live at my pals bike shop, so I just look them up in one of his catalogs(Motorcycle stuff,Parts Unlimited,Tucker Rockie) I always put new sprockets on with a new chain. I chaged my gearing, but I went the other way and lowered it. But I know other Banditos went higher . I think a little grinding may be necciary if you go up one on the counter.

IIRC you can use SV650 rear sprockets but I don't remember which fronts are compatible OEM.

PitterB4 had a combo of an SV rear in 47 with a front I can't recall in 14t. Guess the front is the bigger mystery versus the rear.
