Regulator questions
« on: April 26, 2009, 11:40:07 PM »
Even though the mighty B4 has been running ok for a while now i have some reg questions.
The stock reg failed about a year ago & a locally available unit was installed off a Suzuki thunder 250 ( asian model) & the voltage output was the same.
If the current is not within B4 specs will this have any long term effect on the electrical system, frying coils or spark not enough.I notice after the bike is warm it sometimes hesitates & carbs have been check many times.
Have the contact to get the original reg from Singapore so postage & time will be less.
Cheers.
Matt

As long as the outputs are within spec according to Suzuki, you should be fine. Confirm with a volt meter to be sure, it should take ten minutes tops.

I'm running one off of a newer GS500 for two years now and things are fine.

I'd almost say that may be more of a case of jetting for your hesitation. When my RR went, operation was fine, it was starting and stopping that was the big issue.
