I had to create a wordpress blog for a client so I ended up making one for myself to figure it out. Here's the result.

The rearsets are gimbels and are made for the b4. They aren't listed on the gimbel site anymore but they are listed at wild hair:

It only took 2 years but I've finally assembled all of the parts for gsxr fork swap... Now all I need to do is swap it over to my bike.



It's a Frankenstein, assembled from:

2000 gsxr 750 switches
1993 gsxr 750 triple
1997 gsxr 600 fender (not shown)
1997 gsxr 600 master and calipers
1999 gsxr 600 rim
2001 gsxr 750 rotors
1996 gsxr 750 forks and axle
Vortex clamps and bars
Knock off Pazzo levers

Gotta love Suzuki part swapablity.

Hi,

Nice to see that your project is going on! I have a few questions since I'd like to do the same on my own B400:
- Are the switch connectors for such a recent GSXR compatible with B400 connectors? I know that the compatibility is great with other Suzuki parts but I'd like that you confirmed or not.
- On the picture, we can see the 2 throttle cables but I believe the B400 carbs can only be connected with one. Is that correct or is it possible to connect the 2nd one (I believe this one automatically closes the throttle valves) and is there any interest in doing that?
- Are the callipers the same for GSXR 600 and 750? I believe the fork is inverted for 750 when it's not for 600.

• The switch connectors are different. I'll have to splice the newer switches into the B400 connectors.
• You are correct the b400 carbs only have 1 cable. I'm pretty sure the newer gsxr throttle will work with a single cable but won't know for sure until I get it all fitted. I'll keep you posted as I get to it.
• The gsxr 600 and 750 calipers are different. The 750 has really big six pot calipers which look great. I opted for the 600 4 pot calipers because I got them cheap. The 600 had conventional forks and the 750 had USD but the mounting points where the same.

I did a bunch of research online about which parts would fit... and got lucky the research was correct. Ideally it would be better to get a complete front end. It would definitely be cheaper... it was just easier for me to do it piece by piece over a period of time.

• The rear seat cowl is from suzuki. I bought it from a member on this board.
• I haven't mounted the front end yet. The all the most recent photos are in the link above.

Many thanks for the info. I also believe that it would be cheaper to get the whole package, but when I look for a complete 750 Gixxer front-end, it's at least something like 600 euros which is approximately the same price than I paid for my B400, not sure my wife will agree...

I already had your blog in my web browser bookmarks, I'll have a look in the next weeks to see how your bike looks like with the new front-end... I can't wait to see the result ;-)

Looking great..you'll head of me as usual.... being behind at times pays, save me the research time  :trustme:
can't alway spend the time i like too on my b400 project.

i too regular drop into your blog  :thumb:  Keep the good work up... I may depend on it

over here in the UK its hard to find a complete front end that doesn't cost lots of £££££...  buying in bits i think is the best way Forward for many reasons... although you may have to wait for the right items to come up for the right price!! which i think is what i and you have found!

But where to buy one? What do I search for? I've only once found one but it was like $350

Project is back from the dead. My kid is now old enough that I can get some work done in the garage.

Got the steering stops relocated, forks bolted up, wheel on. Still figuring out mounting the headlight, turn signals, and new gauge cluster.

Front end swap is mostly complete. I still have to clean up some wiring etc. I've been riding to work and gsxr front end is pretty great. I can't wait for the brake pads to bed in!!
