Its finally done........
« on: December 30, 2008, 09:30:39 PM »

With the exception of the new left tail piece plastic and the GSXR front end and shock,ITS DONE! I went through the top end and it got fresh valves, valve seals a light cylinder hone and rings. With a foot and a half worth of snow on the ground up here,it looks like its going to get a trailer ride down south for a test ride. I really wanted to take it to deals gap a month and a half ago but Suzuki doesnt feel the need to stock ANY engine related parts here in the States. If you think you may be doing a top end on one of these things in the near future,I'd suggest putting a parts order in now. It fired right up after assembly and runs as smooth as a new one. If anyone has been putting off freshening up the top end on one of these, just do it.Its not as expensive as I figured it would be and the difficulty factor is pretty low.

I've got a 94 750 front end for it.I'm having a new top clamp and headlight mounts machined up as we speak. The new clamp will have handlebar mounts for standard bars. I just cant do the clip on thing anymore.

carbs are not as bad as a magna v series, yes what electric problems, and a tune up valve adjust i would hope to pon off on some one else lol. the shaky handle bars remind me of ape hanger they wobble so much... any vmax parts go in that motor :stickpoke:

No electrical grief here and theres a hell of alot more room to work when dong the valves on Venture than the tiddler Bandit engine. I fixed the woble with a 2.5" thick machined billet fork brace. I dont know what Yamaha was thinking putting their paper thin fork brace in there. One word for the stock fork brace...Useless. Putting the V-max Vboost in there has been done by alot of guys with these bikes. Kinda cool but I doubt if i'll ever do it. Kind of like putting headers and a set of rims on your Dads Buick when you were 16..Whats the point..? If I feel the need for an acceleration rush,I've got "other" things in the garage to get my "fix".
One worthy mod that I've got for it is a set of R1 front brakes. I need to work out how I'm going to deal with the linked braking plumbing that it has and then I'm good to go.I guess Yamaha figured Grampa would never squeeze the front brake lever so they'd help him out and activate the front brake for him when he steps on the rear brake pedal.Scary..
