Long lost return - project
« on: August 15, 2013, 07:08:54 PM »
well i've had this bike and this account for roughly 6 years and not got a lot done! so here we are after a bit of work

The rear shock burst just after an MOT, so got hold of some sort of gsxr shock I think. Got it from a breakers who pulled it out a bandit, so not sure of its heritage.

Had to move the coolant bottle out the way for the shock hose. Its attractively mounted with more zip ties on the radiator. The shock is 305mm centers, about 5mm more than standard so its jacked up a small amount.

Ducati monster seat mounted with 4 woodscrews... hmm

Undertray cut down and inverted to make space for ignition unit and relays that used to be down left of the frame. New LED taillight with integrated indicators. Needs ballast resistors I've now found as just solid lit when on!

Plans underway are to clean up the whole seat frame taking off all the tabs and mountings, cut down the flat tab at the end and remove the luggage handles or whatever under the pillion bit.

Yeah, I've used an old brake fluid bottle strapped to the radiator for now. I fancy getting a little alloy bottle though as it looks rough. You can just see it on the top picture

Oh I see it. That's one way to do it! I guess I missed that in your first post.

I've just bought a gsxr400 braced swingarm off ebay, the GK73A i think. Its not got any pivot bolt or any other parts with it. Ive read its a straight swap, but I dont know if my pivot bolt will work with it, or rear axle and brake caliper? Has anybody on here done the swapover? Thanks

So, got one or two more bits done. First my favourite is my new custom exhaust made by NRP for me

Sounds nice and throaty. Its got a removable db killer but havent tried it without yet. Also sorted a better overflow bottle out now

And the same bloke at NRP welded a brake linkage bracket on the swingarm

So hopefully it will go straight in. Pretty much...! Anyone have any experience on if theres any need to change wheel spacers?
