Looking for B4s in California?
« on: June 11, 2005, 01:42:21 AM »
There is a B4 for sale in San Rafael (Bay area) for $399.  Seller says he has pictures available.  Also there are two in the L.A. area, one for $999 in Marina Del Rey (pics posted)  and the other for $1800 in Edwards, CA (that one's negotiable).

I'd go for the one in Marina Del Rey if I didn't already have mine to pour money into.

Yeah, I contacted the guy for the $399 last week. He replied to my mail and said it was still available if I was interested, but he never did reply to my second message requesting for an appointment to see the bike.

Bummer.  I'd send another message asking if he got your last one and let him know that you are still interested in seeing it in person.

A good friend of mine, the guy I ride with most times, got a deal similar to that first one.  No title but will end up being a killer track bike!

Rob,
Have him contact broadway title since it's a 90 model they should be able to get him a title for $125.00. I started to bid on that bike too. I'm glad that he won it. By the way it's chris. Are you still in for a Tuesday ride sometime?

I purchased the $399 bike in San Rafael. It has several issues and isn't rideable but I was thinking about making it my project bike. Of course, all I need is another project!??! I have way too many around here already.

Apparently, the rear shock went and sprockets and chain were eaten. It'll be an old GSXR shock replacement but I was thinking about giving up some top end speed for a little more low end grunt. If you guys were replacing sprockets and chain at the same time what would you do?

Also, it apparently has a 2nd gear shift issue. He was thinking that it was the "dog bones"? I'm not really sure what that is? Any thoughts?

"Dog bones" won't cause a shift issue. "Dog bones" are the nickname for the links in the rear suspension. Here's a pic of what they look like, though these are an adjustable version, so have two holes at one end.

Dog bones or not, he said it's a shift issue. I'm probably remembering what he called it wrong since it didn't mean anything to me....but it's definitely a shift issue.

Rob, thanks for posting pics of my new project. I'm still trying ro figure out the pic hosting thing.

So $355 for the bike, I have most of it tore down already, carbs apart & cleaned just waiting for new float bowl o-rings and they are ready to go back on.

The inside of the motor (looking in from the carbs looks clean & so does the clutch. I think it still has the original tires on it (And they still have tons of thread left!) It didnt have a odometer so I dont know the miles but after looking it over I think it has relatively few miles on it.

Iys defiantely a project. I hope to have it on the track next season (this season is the VTR's turn)

Thanks for the heads up on the title but I'm not going to bother. It will be a track only bike, thats why I bought it.

Once I get the pic hosting thing figured out I'll post up photos of the progress.

Pitter,
It may be shift forks. Could that affect only one gear - second? and if so, do you know how much/what's involved in changing them out?

A bent shift fork will cause one gear to jump out. The fix is to tear apart the motor, split the cases to get to the transmission gears and replace the shift forks.
