Bandit400 History Help....Please!!!

Hey There. I'm looking for a little help. I Live in canada and recently purchased an imported 1989 GSXRR400 (as most should know that bike was never sold in North america and thus can't get parts easily). I heard from an unreliable source that the Bandit400 of around the same year(s) had the same motor as my bike. Can anyone confirm this? I am going to be needing parts eventually and it would be nice to know what north american bike to spec them from.
Thanks in advance for your help,

Same family, but the GSXR is in a higher state of tune.
Start reading threads by our resident expert in that dept: GSXR400racer, AKA Jay.
