The solution:

I did everything what you and the members of the german forum wrote.

One member wrote, that I should change the wire from the pickup. The brown/blackblue, which is on the left side of the CDI.

??? No question at all. I've done it.

The amazing thing: It works. I can't belive it. See the picture. It shows the connector under the seat:

And I measured it. From brown to the CDI its the brown and from blackblue its to the blackblue at the CDI. There ist no hidden switch or change in the wiring hairness.

The Pickup works in an other Bandit. And the CDI also does.

Why?  No ideas. But I'm happy. Never ever I would change theses wires. It was a good idea.

Btw: a picture of the Bandit:

May this threat help anybody with a misterious problem.

Original message:

Hello.

I'm Frank and introtuced myself in the Introduce-Threat.

My daughters b4 has a ignition-problem.

I work on motorcycle for about 28 years.

The problem: There is no spark.

What have I done: I own both Ignitions 32900-10D00 and 32900-10D60. I own both rotors 12600-32814 and 12600-32853.

I tested the old Ignition in an other b4. In this bike, I tested my coils with sparking plug caps an the sparking plugs. And it works.

But not in my bike.

Yesterday I changed the signal generator assy (#33110-10D00). I've got two of them from my used sparepart dealer.
There is no spark with any of this 3 items.

I made a separte wiring harness for the ignition system. But it didn't work.

Possible solutions: All of this 3 signal generator assys are damaged (There is 90 - 95 ohm at every part)

A bad attitude in my garage.

Different cable-connection at the ignition box?

Any ideas?

I'm thinking this might shed some light on it?

http://forums.banditalley.net/index.php?topic=3955.0

Maybe the signal generator that's matched to the CDI isn't working?

Hi Frank,
Is the B4 a UK,USA or Jap model? If its Jap it will have a green/yellow wire at the cdi that the othres do not have and have you got 12 volts at the coils?

Chris.

Update:

Yesterday I rode 100km (60mls) to a member of the german bandit forum. We tested the pickups. They still worked in his engine. Also the CDI 32900-10D60 (newer one from 93, P-model)

But not in mine.

interfuse posted a link. GSXR400 racer wrote:

"so yours has a extra wire on the cdi then coming from the neutral indicator switch!"

What does it mean?

All models (M, N and P) have the same colored cable at the CDI:

Brown and Black/Blue from the pickup (left and right on the top)

Orange top left is 12V, Black/White bottom left is ground, Black/(looks like yellow?) top right is for coil 2-3 and bottom right the white one for coil 1-4. (sorry. I'm sitting at work and can't post a picture.)

@Chris H: I suppose its a german Model. It has a polished stainless steel exhaust and two discs at the front brake. How can I decide it?

There is no wiring at the clutchlever.

I know that there are sometimes speedcutter for the japanese models.
For what are these yellow and green wires?

Facts:
With the 93model parts:
My cdi works in an other bike. There is the correct rotor for this cdi in the engine. The pickup works also in an onther bike.
From the coils to the sparking plugs is still working in other bikes. (I'm desperate. I tested some parts twice, because I thougt I damaged them at the testing)

But there is still no spark.

Damaged loom somewhere probably. I hope you've checked the fuses.

The four fuses in the case behind the battery. Or is there another mainfuse, like in the GSX-R models?
But there are 12V at the orange wire at the cdi and the coils.

btw: I've problems to translate "loom". What does it mean?

The wiring assembly, also sometimes referred to as harness or bundle

Hi Frank,

do you have the low tension leads connected to the coils correctly? If you look carefully at the coil connections one is marked + and one is marked -     I "think" the orange wire is the + feed?

On one coil + is at the top, on the other + is at the bottom. You may need to take them off to get a better view.

Yes. I know. I tested them in an other bike. I made a mistake and connect one with the 12V (orange) on the "-" side. But it still works with the wrong connection.

The loom:

I wrote, that I built a seperate wiring harness for the ignition system. Its in the repair-manual. 12V to each coil (on the "+" side ;-))and to the cdi. Ground to the cdi.
From cdi to the left coil and an other to the right coil.

And from the pickup on the cdi.

The rotor rotates. The pickup works with my cover in an other bike. The cdi works in an other bike. An the coil-stuff.

But not together in mine.

What did I forget? Where is the wrong part? Something simple thing.

I need more ideas. Write what you think. I will test everything.

Hey,

When testing the parts, are the plugs used plugs? Do they have carbon on them?

Have you checked out the Kill switch on the bike to make sure that its not in kill mode all the time?

Where the signal pick up plugs in, do you have resistance read at the CDI end of the wiring harness?

Silly question, but is the stand safety switch not engaged as well? My B4 would engage the kill or stand safety, but still crank over.

Just thoughts

What about the plug caps, do you get the correct resistance plug cap to plug cap? Are the leads old, do you have new plug leads? Is there a spark from the end of the lead without the plug caps fitted? Are you getting 12v at the orange lead?

Just wild guesses I'm afraid.

Think the white at the coil needs to go to the cdi but the black yellow needs to go to the tacho and cdi and im  unsure as to what affect NOT connecting the orange wires up will have as they run some relays that may affect the running of the bike. Is it a six wire cdi?

Hi.

The coils with sparkplugs were tested in an other Bandit 400. Complete.

But I have an other question.

If the ignition turns on, is there 12V on the orange/white one at the cdi? Or is there 12V when the engine runs?

There should be 12v at the orange wire at all times. The white and black/yellow, are the pulse lines from the CDI. They trigger the coil to fire, where the orange keeps the coil powered, if that makes sense.

The orange wire should go to both coils. Straight white should go to the Left (1&4) and black/yellow goes to the right (2&3).

Clear as mud?

A twin disc and clip-ons usually means Jap bike. If I am not mistaken the German model has twin disk and handlebars. UK spec has single disk and handlebars.
