Sticker on bike says 150/60/17

Hi, whats the standard size tyre for bandit 400, ive got a v/vs not the standard slingshot etc.....and have a stock sticker (in japanese) that says 150/60/17, my dealer is telling me otherwise.

I have a pirelli Dragon evo MTR22 on back, feels lovely and a 110/70/17 on the front (which is fooked)

What tyre's do you guys run, and what sizes do you run?

My dealer says that the tyre Im running is wrong and in effect is giving me extra top speed.  Im really confused with the contridicting sizes.

Please help.

What's the size on that rear MTR22?
Your front tire sounds like the right size, and the sticker is proclaiming the right size for the rear.

150/70-17 is the size for a non-VV type, but all good tires come in 150/60-17 and there's no problem at all in using those tires. For the VV type the manual says a 150/60-17 tire should be used. A 150/60 tire reduces top speed compared to a 150/70, but not significant.

The MTR 22 is a 150/60/17.  Im glad that the manual confirms the right size.

Can anyone suggust a nice sport pair of tyres.  Not dunlop, they remind me of squash trainers.  LOL

Hate to bust your ballz brother but think of a rear sprocket when you talk about increasing or reducing top speed the 60 series tire being smaller (smaller rear sprocket) would make you go a bit faster and the 70 series being taller would take off quicker( bigger rear sprocket) but this is so minut that you would never notice the difference

Sorry Jay, but the reverse is true. :duh:

A larger rear sprocket definately reduces top speed and increases torque due to the change in final drive ratio between the drive and driven sprocket.

A taller tire means a longer tire circumference, means each revolution of the wheel travels farther, basically increasing top speed.

If my math is right, 150/60 roughly 63 cm dia, = circ of 201 cm
150/70 roughly 66 cm dia = 207 cm
Difference of approx 3% = 3km/hr @ 100km/hr.

When I switched to a 150/60 I picked up about 200 rpm at 100 kph

so thief your saying your rpms dropped 200 at 100kph interesting ya learn something new every day i would have thought it was like a sprocket if i go bigger tire im losing speed! Cool Sorry for busting your balls hertodd feel free to razz me a bit what a fun learning experience! LOL

so, stick with the 150/60. what tyres are good.  i want a sporty tyre that wont flattern off too quick.

Hey Jay...

The thing I didn't mention is that the tire is like the "Drive Sprocket" whereas the rear sprocket is "driven". Going to a larger rear tire is like increasing the Front "Drive" sprocket.

Think about a jackshaft setup, it's sort of similar, the input side is the reverse of the output side.

Did I put this into any sort of understandable format? :duh:

So, now that were moving to a Tire question, I'm using Michelin Pilot Roads. Seem good for my needs so far, but are NOT as sticky as a SPORT tire (Pilot Power, etc)

HUH?? front tire specs is 110/70/17 ??? i have 120/70/17 and always thought this was spec...
