I have the same saddlebags in red, as well as the red tail sportbag. I have the same Joe Rocket Phoenix too!
I was reading that the mesh JR (and other similar brand) jackets are not really good if you go down bad (so to speak). Contrary to popular belief, the material is not really abrasion-resistant and will melt and burn into your skin.
Also, besides the material, the stiching on many of these jackets is suspect as well.
There's a company called CyclePort that makes mesh jackets out of Kevlar that won't burn or wear, and have mega-stitching. Expen$ive tho. Pants and jacket with liners with run ~$1000. Despite that I think I'm going for it.
Granted, we all like to think positively about not going down, but life isn't always so rosy.
Right now I'm layering under my Phoenix jacket and Phoenix pants (getting cold up here in NYC area), so I'm not worrying too much about this meltdown stuff. I hope to be able ot hold out 'till the bike show comes into town in January, where I'll have the CyclePort folks measure me up live. Hopefully they'll have some show specials and I can save a few bucks.
