OK
I'd like to see what tracks you guys are racing or having track days at.
The only track I've been to here in the Toronto area is Shannonville. I've been on 3 of the configurations, the Fabi, Nelson and the Long track.

My one track day was on Pocono East course:

www.poconoraceway.com

They don't have much about their road courses on the web site.  Actually, they have nothing about them.  In the pic below, the East course is the one to the right of Tunnel Road, on the straightaway.

Although it appears I may be short of funds (Jay - I'll email you), I'd really like to do a day at Beaverun in the fall.  I've been to the course a couple times.  Much faster than Pocono.

I also intend to do a day at Summit Point next year.

Summit Point is also the track I would go to.  I have only done the track days on their Jefferson and Shenandoah circuits.  Funny, as most people have only driven on the Summit Point track, haha.  I have yet to do a bike track day (don't have any leather bottoms anyway) but they are fun in a car

I personally haven't done a trackday yet, but I often go down to Mallory Park to watch, I live near it

I am lucky, there are two tracks close to me.  The best is VIR at http://www.virclub.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=section&id=23&Itemid=106.

The other is Carolina Motorsports Park at http://www.carolinamotorsportspark.com/.

I have raced karts on a lot of other tracks around the south and midwest.  My favorite in a kart was Mid-Ohio and I am sure it is just as thrilling on a bike.  The worst in a kart is Daytona, too big, too wide.  Like riding in a huge parking lot.

Yeah Russ - a lot of guys from up here head down to VIR, too.  Supposed to be awesome.  That Carolina track sure looks like a lot of fun.

Billy - get out there!

I can't do a trackday on a 4t 250! Are you mad?! I'll get eaten alive! It's good in the bends but I'd need to have some serious engine mods done to make it anything other than embarrassing on the straights. Maybe when I get my 1200...

There is nothing to be embarrassed about. Anybody can go fast in a straight line. I get passed like I'm standing still by some bikes on the straights. I expect it. R6s, GSXR600s and R1s are all faster and there will always be faster riders than you on the track no matter what you ride. It's all about the corners. At the 1st few track days I was at this year, I was getting passed everywhere by everybody. Now I get passed on the straights but hardly ever in the corners anymore. There are guys out there on 125s that are very fast in the corners. Once you get the bike set up you will be surprised how fast you can be on the 250. Besides, track days are not races. They are for learning and self accomplishment, putting yourself to the test and improving your skills.

Maybe I will then! Plus, my bike is a bit of a minter and I want to keep her that way. I could see I'd get carried away and probs end up binning it so I think I'll be keeping it just for the road. However, there are companies that rent out 600's and teach you for competetive track days, I might give one of those a shot soon.

Good Idea to take a road racing class of some sort. There must be a good one in your area. I went to the Fast Riding School that Michel Mercier has here at Shannonville. Best thing I've done to improve on the track.
