Hi Guys, just a quick one, at around 8000rpm the engine emits a sort of ticking noise, any ideas ? bike only has 17000km on it, and seems to be in great nick. I'm looking at sellin soon so dont want to make major investment.

cool, i think i can live with it. as long as no harm caused, no suggestions on what it may be ? Little 250's really get a howl up huh ! My previous bikes have been sv650s and tl1000s..... this liitle thing makes lots of noise.... doesnt really get anywhere, is a bit of fun though... Thanks for the reply mate. glad to know i'm not alone... cheers

hello,
The ticking noise is usually the tappets when they are worn or if you are using too heavy a grade of oil. On start up from cold there is always a ticking noise which should go away in about 2 seconds once the oil has channeled through. Try using a lighter grade of oil and if it persists, the tappets themselves are relatively cheap but labour charges can be high. Or you could do it yourself!

Do you have the model with red cam cover? Whereabouts are you located, USA or AUS or where?
