Oil Filters
« on: March 11, 2005, 04:06:52 PM »
I'll be starting my spring tune up this weekend. Does anybody have an oil filter recommendation? I was thinking about trying K&N, but I'm open to suggestions.

I am far from an expert but from everything I've read and heard, anything but Fram is OK.  I usually use K&N or Suz.

Since the B4 doesn't use a spin-on, you're just replacing the element itself, right? If so, then you'll be able to easliy see if the Fram is any good or not. I have a hunch since it is more visible, the quality is probably better, since they can't hide their sins.

I just put a Fram in mine, and it came with the O-Ring.  Quality appeared to be up-to-par with other internal oil filters I have seen/used.

I ended up using the Suzuki filter. It was the cheapest   . It was only $5 without the o-ring. I put a fram filter in it before I put it away for the winter and it cost $10 (but came with the o-ring).

I'll be changing the filter again soon, I'll let you know how it faired...

I'm reading through my manual about chaning the oil. The only step I don't understand is when it says s"Disconnect the oil pressure switch lead." Can anyone fill me on what it is asking me to do?

It's the wiring near the oil filter cap.

They're all the same.  It doesn't matter.  I've used Fram, Suzuki, Wix, K&N.  I grab one from wherever I am that has one in stock and is cheapest.
