Ordering from Bike Bandit
« on: January 17, 2006, 07:25:07 PM »
Hey All,

I'm about to order a cam chain and guides, as well as some valve seals for Dita from BikeBandit ( or elsewhere if anyone knows of anywhere that might get these parts to a Canuck)

Does anyone know how long it takes to get parts?  For instance, do the parts come from Suzuki Japan, and take 6 weeks tavel time + the time to produce the parts, or do they generally have stock (or a closer source) of these sorts of parts?

Ideally, I'd like the bike on the road before I take possession of the "new" bike, to get some hours on a bike before being muscled around by the bigger one.

Has anyone had any problems?  Were they resolved?  Tips?

Thanks
stormi

Parts I've ordered from Bike Bandit and Ron Ayers take about 10 days for ground transportation, but you can get them a little sooner if you pony up for express delivery.

Hey Sven,

Thanks for the reply!

So they had them in stock then by the sounds of it?   Of course the biggest difference being that your 2003 B12 is a current bike.   I would hope that they'd have your parts available.

Knowing how "Rare" the b4s are, I wonder if I will have to wait for the parts to come from Japan.

It all depends - if the parts in available in the continent they are reliable.  I've had good luck with them  They don't have a magic supply, tho.  If they're not here, they're not here.  If Maniac sees this, I'm sure he'll share his experience.  The term "Cross Shipped" comes to mind...

Cross-shipped is about what I'd expect.  That's generally my luck with getting parts for her.  What sort of parts have you ordered for yours?

Bolts, gaskets, cables, clutch adjuster cover....  I think Maniac's problems were with carb parts.

BTW - Ron Ayers doesn't have the B4 in it's on-line fiche library anymore.

I sort of avoided trying to address that because I don't know if they had them in stock or got them from a central distribution point somewhere and then reshipped them to me.

I had noticed that.  I looked there to see how much for an Air filter for the new bike,... I just about fell out of my chair.  I'm glad it already has a K&N.

I had heard that there were some places that you could get "grey market imports"  Has anyone found any of these places?  Or am I better off not opening that can of worms?

Either way, it didn't sound like they were taking the scenic route from Japan. :)
