Front End swap
« on: February 04, 2008, 11:08:18 AM »
Hi guys,

I am new here but i have see here and on many other forums posts regarding the swap of the front end. I want to swap my B4 stock fork with a GSXR 750 or 600 k7 (2007) like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/06-07-GSXR-600-750-Complete-Front-Suspension-Forks-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35592QQihZ016QQitemZ260208169332QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW#ebayphotohosting but i don't know if i have to make modifications to it or to the frame.
Again i know it can be done be i would be more than happy to get some technical details regarding this.
Also any reply regarding this matter would be great.

Best regards,
Bogdan

76 gsxr had triple clamps (yokes) big enough to slide the 636 tubes through. yes the stems are the same but using the yokes form a 76 make the swap to those forks easier instead of pressing in a bandit stem into a 06 600 triple.

i guess that would be a nicer way to go, but how easy is it to get your hands on a gk76 front crowns? they arnt too popular of a bike over on this side of the pond. i am guess this guy is from north America since he is using the U.S. version of ebay.

Ok. So what i can understand from what has been said is that the only problem will be with the stem. As from what i know the gsxr 750 from 93 should be a bolt on.
Beside that do you know if the full front nd from a gsxr 600 k7 is a bolt on or i need to add spacers to the wheel/ press the original stem into yokes to get it to fit?

Oh and thx for the replies you guys are the best  :thanks:

I've put a 91 USD gsxr front end on my 91 bandit. only thing that I had problems with were the bumps stops. I cut the part ff my bandit to make it work. I can tell you it make a world of difference....
my srad gsxr looks to be the same. but actually has the correct  bumptops on the stem.

What about the clipons? They hit the tank... unless you want to give up some steering degrees by placing the steering stoppers differently. For me this was not an option, when I mod something I want everything to become better, no compromises. So I put the clipons in a more straight way and made 2 small pieces of metal to connect them to the top triple.

yes thats why I think the 96-00 gsxr front end would be better. My bike will be mainly for 1/4 racing and some small spurts to work and so on

you have it all wrong "its a 91 bandit. i'm kinda new to riding"  i try to make no mention of the engine size.
(side note. 750 ecu should be here this week.  I was told about a 10 hp gain.)
