Engine Cases for a 400???
« on: April 24, 2005, 11:00:13 PM »
Hey Rob,

Paul said you might know what other models/years engine cases would fit on a 400.  NRC and Woodcraft don't make them for the 400 anymore   , and mine are a little beat up.

Do you have a clue?  Or know any company that still makes them for the 400?

Thanks,

Ron

How beat up are your cases? You might be able to polish out the scrapes if they aren't too bad. I just got a set off of ebay that I'm in the process of polishing up. They had a bit of rash, but they've smoothed out nicely.

If you want to spend the $$$ you can probably still get a set from suzuki.

Unfortunately, I don't.  I actually think Paul said Jay might.  Hopefully, he'll chime in.

A couple other thoughts....

I have the same problem.  My right side is gouged.  I've thought of filling the gouges with JB weld and sanding it smooth and then paiting them black.

Also, in the last week or so, I posted a link to some CF case protectors from Wild Hair Accessories.  I don't have time to find the link right now but if you go to www.whaccessories.com, you can find them.

If I had a nickle for everytime you mentioned JB weld. I think that GS site is rubbing off on you!

I filled my gouges with JB weld a long time ago planning to sand down and paint but didn't get around to it.  Now that I've found a set of perfect covers off eBay that are waiting for paint or powdercoat I won't sand and paint after all.

Ha, ha... you funny!

John, you have polished cases, right?  How does the JB Weld look when you polish it - can you tell it's there???

I'm not sure how bad your rash is, but I was able to sand this out. I'll post another pic when I'm done.

Anybody know the trick to getting the plug out? I don't want to wreck it.

Thanks guys, appreciate the info.  I might have to get new suzuki ones ($$$!!)  Those NRC covers look awesome (and sound pretty tough).

My guess is that new GSXR 400 case covers aren't being made, either.

What was the last year of production for the Bandit 400 (globally) and the GSXR400?  Anybody know?

Thanks again!

Ron

I guess I'll have to wait a day to check out those pages.
