Sure thing...  me on the 250, my wife on the B4.

But I guess that comes down to rider ability.   :motorsmile:

We were curious because the Ninja is a lighter bike with a smaller but 12.4:1 ratio engine (vesus the B4's 11.8:1). So we thought it would wind up being kinda close.

As I recall (may not be correct), the EX250 puts about 25~26hp to the ground vs. the B4's 40(?).

That's a 65% increase in power for only a 17% increase in weight...

ex250 = 355/26 = 13.5 lbs/HP

gsf400 = 418/40 = 10.5 lbs/HP

Based on my experience with both, I think the 250 is more nimble.  I'd have to ride them back to back to be 100% on that though.  The 250 certainly has a shorter wheelbase by over 2", which is Huge.

>>That's a 65% increase in power for only a 17% increase in weight...<<

What you meant is that the Ninja runs on only 65% of the power. It's a 46% advantage.

>>Based on my experience with both, I think the 250 is more nimble.<<

At it's weight, I can imagine it has quite a bit more "tossability" fun than the B4, which itself is a fun tosser.

Most unrestricted bandits put out between 55 and 59 Hp, there are some in Europe that have the slides of the carbs restricted and they are at 33Hp I believe and the USA bandits that have the smaller 32 mm carbs thats puts then at the 45 Hp range. So it's like bringing a knife to a gun fight in my eyes.

Way off topic, but that saying REALLY irks me.  I'd Much rather have a knife against an average person with a pistol in close quarters (like a house, bar, etc).  I can run and stab someone 20~25 feet away before they could pick up a gun that's ready to fire, and get a shot off (demonstration we do in the self defense class here in Wyoming).  Even with a Trained shooter who's aware and ready only knock that's down to just over 15 feet (from a non-concealed carry position).

Just a bad saying....

Anyway, back to motorcycles.   :motorsmile:

Well, it was a curiousity more than anything else. I think the Ninja looks like a fun bike regardless of whether it can keep up with a B4 or not. I can imagine that there must be a cottage industry around 'rodding up the lil buggers too, which probably makes for an even more interesting bike.

Ok now you pissed me off !!!!! If you have your knife in your hand at the ready and I have my  44 blackhawk in my hands at the ready and your 15 feet away your DEAD!!!!!   :monkeymoon:  I don't care what kind of "training" you have had
 Now back to bikes, just to ask a question like this shows that someone is a squid, a bandit has over 100% more power so it's not even worth comparing them. A better match would be the EX 500 and the Bandit still will run circles around it as well.

I used to have a 02 250. It got up and went pretty well. I think it was rated at 26hp....About as much as a big riding lawn mower. The thing was accually suprisingly fast. I got it up to 110....got pulled over and ass ripped by trooper. I would ride around with guys that had gixers and 954's. I could keep up fine when riding except when they all took off hard from a stoplight. The stock tires were shit on the ninja (like most bikes) I could get it down pretty easy to the edge but it would slide out if it hit even the smallest grain of sand it seemed.  You could jet it and mod it and get maybe about 7-9more hp out of it. Nice thing is, you can get a used one cheap, the parts are all over ebay REALLY CHEAP. and they havent really changed the style of it in years so the thing can use replacement parts from almost any year. The bad part is the power on take off. You can out run any car off the line almost, but 110 is about all your gonna get outta her. Honestly if you were looking at getting a new one, I would say don't do it and to get a used B12 (for the same $$)if you are looking to do any trips or a lot of interstate over long distances. If you want a bike that you can throw down hard and just dick around town on the 250 is the way to go. :bigok:

I like the Ninja 250.  It gets great mileage and can perform better than most cars for under $3K new.  I used to roadrace a production RD 250 and it was a blast.  With limited power you have to brake late and maintain high cornering speed to win. Great fun!  I am tempted to get a Ninja for some of the same.  Also, the old RD used to surprise riders on bigger faster bikes in the tight sections.  Back to the question...the Bandit 400 would beat the Ninja every time.  I still think a 250 would be a great complement to my B 1200.
