Red Line Question
« on: June 22, 2005, 05:51:28 PM »
My bike came with an after market tach. It shows the redline at 10 thousand. Is this correct? It seems a bit low. I couldn't find the answer in the manual.

:thanks:

Nope, the original redlines at 14,000. There is one for sale on ebay right now:

If the big bullet style bucket won't fit on your track bike. You could probably fabricate a custom housing to make it a lot smaller. The actually electronic pieces aren't very big.

Thank you!!
I have a couple tachs in my kit, it's just that none are original.

Ha! I've been taking it easy on this thing. I'll get a lot more get up and go out of it closer to 14 than I have been at 10.

Cheers

Don't the B4's have a rev limitier to keep you from going past redline?

If they do, mine's broken,.. I hit 15K once ( this week) trying to get past a truck that was trying to merge into traffic (from the left) on the highway at 35kph!  I decided to deal with the turning, and making sure I didn't get hit from behind and forgot about the shifting. Once I was finished passing this guy,.. I found I was in 2nd gear doing about 85kph or slightly above,.. and she was just screaming at me.   :duh:

From now on,.. shifting is the priority,.. I'll settle for forgetting to turn off my blinker instead.

Ok, then. my B4 with the variable valve thingy, red lines at 14tho but the limiter does not kickin' till 15tho, it will do this every time you ask it to, does this mean that there is something wrong if my bike will rev past the limiter?
If at first it don't fit .......... Smack it with a hammer(might be the reason my B4 is nackered)

Erm i think the horn should work any time (providing the ignition is on). Mine just likes to honk itself at 8thou for some very annoying reason.

My horn doesn't want to work at all... been to busy working on the carbs to look into that problem. Instead I just pull the clutch and rev.
