Remove guage lens?
« on: February 20, 2011, 02:11:04 PM »
I want to re-paint the needle of my 400, but after trying to pry off the chrome lens cover, I gave up. How do I get to the needle?? Also, I have a replacement face for the tach (original has a crack), but again, how do I get to it.

It can be done... but it ain't easy and you might dent up the chrome bezel. Read this post. Unfortunately the photos are now lost.

It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.

Right - on both counts, thank you! It is far from impossible, just takes a bit of patience, and a sharp, skinny screwdriver. Better yet, five screw drivers, get some leverage under the rim, insert the next driver, so on. Twenty minutes of mucking about per gauge.
