Replacement parts for carb clean?
« on: March 20, 2011, 02:01:20 PM »
First would like to say you fellows have been a great help. I've nailed down my idle problems to knackered spark plugs, and likely the carbs will need some doing over. I'd like to know where you all find your o-rings and gaskets, or if there is a carb cleaning kit out there somewhere.

If no kit is available, should I buy the o-rings from a generic supplier or should I stick to OEM ($4 for an oring, have to be kidding me)? I've been looking for some gaskets, but they all seem to be out of stock...

Mcmaster-Carr has a lot of O'Rings, http://www.mcmaster.com/#rubber-o-rings/=biozpa.  You may have to buy a bag of 10 or 25 but that is often the same or cheaper than 1 from Suzuki.

Needle jet (emulsion tube): 10 x 1.5
Pilot air screw: 3 x 1
Float: 5.5 x 1.5 and 7.5 x 1.5
Membrane cover: 4 x 1

so, silly question, but these measurements are for interior diameter?
also, do you buy your gaskets from bike bandit?

thanks!!!

now i'm confused about the emulsion tube/needle jet width.

so according to tomacGTi's post:

Emulsion tube: 10x1
Pilot air screw: 3x1
Floats:            5.5x1.5 and 7.5x1.5
Diaphram lid:    4x1

and according to Herr Tod's post:

Needle jet (emulsion tube): 10 x 1.5
Pilot air screw: 3 x 1
Float: 5.5 x 1.5 and 7.5 x 1.5
Membrane cover: 4 x 1

so which is it?  1.5 or 1 for the width?

also, is it OD or ID?

after reading tomacGTi's post, i thought OD, but when i went to McMaster, the smallest OD they had was 3.5mm.  are these measurements ID then?  or is there another place i should look?

thanks!

I dug through my files and when I measured the ones from Suzuki I got:

Larger float oring: 7.5 ID x 1.5 mm
Smaller float oring: 5.5 mm ID x 1.5 mm
For the one up in the roof of the carb: 4mm ID x 1

I've never replaced the emu tube one or the pilot air screw. But the emu tube one is pretty narrow.

for aussie 250V, the genuine o-ring sizes are as follows:

pilot air screw 5 x 1
needle valve ( float ) 8 x 1.25
needle valve seat 10.5 x 1.5
diaphram cover 6.5 x 1
emulsion tube ( below slide plate ) 13 x 1.25

sizes are od x cross section diameter in mm

hope this helps someone.

VVS on the 400GB site is me and the emulsion tube o'ring is 1.5x10 i/d. You got to get Viton as the cheap bags from diy stores are nitril and will fail.
