rear brake problem after installing new rear sprocket
« on: May 21, 2007, 10:25:21 PM »
Hi,
earlier tonight I installed a sprocket specialists 49T rear sprocket on my B4.  I got it all back togther and it looked good but when I went for a test ride I noticed that the rear brake was acting up.  If I put even a little bit of pressure on the brake pedal the rear wheel locks up and slides and it is really hard to push gently enough that the wheel wont lock. I went home and put it up on the center stand, it is rotating pretty freely with a very faint noise of dragging and when operating the pedal by hand the wheel stops spinning very abruptly as soon as there is pressure on the pedal.  I am suspicious that the wheel is not aligned correctly on its axis of rotation.  How do I adjust the chain tensioners uniformly; it is very hard to tell if the wheel is angled at all because the chain tensioners are uneven.  This problem with the rear brake just started tonight after the new sprocket went on.  Thanks in advance

Hi, i don't know if this will help you...:p
but, before you tighten the rear wheel axis bolt, let it little bit loose.. Roll the wheel and then press the rear brake pedal.. this should help centered the wheel in the position.
While keep pressing the brake, tighten the bolts...

did you spread the pads apart to get the wheel back in?
