tyres uk law????

what is the law in the UK on tyres because on my b4 ihave a 120/60 zr 17 tyre and the manufactures  spec is 110/70 zr 17 and my local tyre dealer told me that if i where to have an acident my insurance wouldnt cover me because the incorect size rubber is fitted to my bike, is this right ???? where can i find out information like this ????

Im a firm beleiver of never do that on the front the rear is no problem im just a pain in the butt like that!

Fitting the 120 to the front will upset your bikes handling. The tyre fitters are doing you with a fast one saying that your insurance wont pay out though. Unless the tyre doesnt fit properly and it is bulging out or something.

As far as i know you can change the tyre dimensions if you want.  If its still a road legal tyre youre fine.
If you cant join them, beat them...

fitting a 120 tyre on a rim made for a 110 tyre will make the tyre more curved.
this changes the characteristic of the tyre (which is 30% of the total suspension of the bike), sideward stability changes because the sides of the tyres are deformed.
and there is LESS grip because the tyre is more curved

which will have the following effects:
- the motorcycle will want to come upwards in turns
- the tyre will wear faster then normal
