93 B4 Cam Swap
« on: July 22, 2010, 09:35:33 PM »
Hi all, I have been doing some research lately and it seems the 91 - 92 B400's have different cams. After looking through the service manual it looks as if the 93 cams give less valve lift (not sure on duration). Has anyone out there swapped out their '93 cams for earlier ones? Would this swap give any noticeable difference or should i still continue my search for GSXR 400 cams? Hope someone on here can give some advice, thanks guys.

The 93 motors made less HP (54) vs the 91-92 (59). If I were going to swap cams I'd go for something other than stock. Megacycle makes some, page 52 of their catalog. www.megacycle.com

CDI is different as well; lower redline and I'm not sure if the pickup is the same.

Quickest way to see the differences is to take a look at the parts list as it states M/N model or P. They got different cams, CDI, signal generator rotor and 6th gear plus other things.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the input. So in other words it wouldn't really be worth the trouble to swap in a set of earlier cams. With that in mind, would anyone happen to know how a set of aftermarket cams compare to a get of GSXR400 ones? Thanks again
