What to do if Kreem starts to flake off?
« on: May 30, 2006, 10:30:58 AM »
Looked into the gastank when I got fuel the other day and saw come cinnamon-stick like things at the bottom of the tank. I'm guessing that bits of the Kreem are starting to flake off the tank in places.

I was able to get some of them out via a really long pair of tongs and I'll be running a fuel filter "just in case" but does anyone have any ideas on how to get the old stuff out? Funny enough, the lining had rust on the back of it which I guess means that the job certainly wasn't done right.

My kreem coating lasted 3 years. But it's starting to give-up. I'm planning on trying this kit over the winter.

Until then I'll run an inline fuel filter.

Yep, that's the same stuff I'll be using come the wintertime.

And for what it's worth, acetone will remove Kreem from what I've read. The only problem then is getting all of the liquid latex out of the tank and disposing of it....

I'll run the inline for the time being. I may even pull the petcock to clean off whatever may be hanging onto it. Last thing I need is to be stranded somewhere due to something lame like that.

A little sugar and some lemon and you'll be all set!

I was really meticulous when I Kreemed my tank over the winter.  Sure hope I have better luck with mine!
