electrical curiosity

I have noticed that my blinker lights blink at a different tempo when the bike is running from when the bike is NOT running.  I this normal or do I have electrical issues? Can you guys try this with your bikes and let me know? Please? There are no problems with the bike when its running I just noticed it and though it was curious.

Unless they are blinking unusually fast or slow, don't be worried about it.

The turn signal falsher operates off of voltage, resistance, and current.  That is why when the bike is running, the voltage is higher, and the blinkers speed changes a bit.  If you change the wattage(read: resistance and draw) of your bulbs (i.e. brighter or LED), the speed will also change.

what if my blinker just stays solid color.  Does anybody know how to fix this.

Either a burnt out bub on the circuit or a bad flasher/relay.  IIRC, the relay/flasher is zip-tied to the rear subframe.

Check the wiring, if it's not all in order the blinkers can behave quite strangely.

huh...i just found out today that mine is doing that as well...except the front left turn signal stays solid, but the back left turn signal does not even light up!!!

so....check bulb....check flasher/relay...wut else guys???

well...the bulb was out...could that have also somehow disengaged the front turn signal?

Yes..  the B4 has a thermal flasher relay....  if you're not sure what that means, try Google.  You'll find a better explination through there than anything I could type up.
