Just curious as to how the two bikes compare overall (performance, reliability, comfort etc).

Assuming you mean the current GS500F series. Nice looking. Bullet proof dependable. Super easy to work on. Mid-1970s technology based on the GS400/GS425/GS450 models of that time. Great starter and learner bikes. Perfectly capable of hauling my fat @ss around at a good clip, but I would be willing to bet money the B400 would run circles around it. I'm guessing, but the GS500F is just so old! Decades old, rather than just a few years old.

It would be like bringing a knife to a gun fight, Both are pretty much identical in the suspension and braking department but the Bandit has got the motor.

I know a few gs500's that would smoke ya! AND SOME EX500'S FUNNY THING is that gsxr750 pistons of some year go in it and the Kaw zx11 pistons of some year! LMAO the things ya find out!!!

If you cut off cylinder 1 and 4, the GSXR 750 of 90-something year will fit on a GS 500. If you have won the lottery you can put a Intruder M1800R engine in a Bandit 400

For the rest, a GS 500 feels like a moped and a Bandit 400 feels like a motorcycle. Feels does not mean rides, but the Bandit is faster. A restricted B4 is faster than a restricted GS 500, even though you'd think a GS 500 has more torque. A GS 500 is cheaper to buy and maintain than the B4.

If I had a choice, I'd go for the B4 any time, no doubts at all.

But then again i thought a SV 650 would fit in a rgv 250 chassis but ive seen that it just wont no matter how much loot you throw at it, but a SV400 will but who wants a 400 twin LOL
