BTW - DSComposites is just shipping my new screen tomorrow. I paid them on the 17th. They are very nice and apologetic about it but I'm anxious for my new toy.

Seriously. I haven't got that far. I read you message and it got me thinking. I probably wouldn't tear into the wiring harness, I'd just run new wires, and cable tie them to the harness. I'm not the greatest at electrical either, but I've got hook-ups. If you have any questions I can pass them along.

About DSComposites, they did the same thing to me. It took them a month to get me the screen. It's still better then ordering from the UK. It took 5 months for my spare carb to arrive. I figured it got lost...

But ehh, i have no info on the gsxr400's. I'm curious how they are attached, are the brackets identical to the b4?
I found the headlight on ebay for a very nice price (hope it stays that way, with all those bids), but it's not visible on the pic if brackets are included. As for fabricating them myself.. well i have two left hands as they say.

I have no first hand knowledge but I think that you'd be doing a lot of fabrication to mount that up. That light mounts to the fairing stay, I'm sure. The stay mounts to the Gixxer's frame which is TOTALLY different than ours. Are you thinking of doing the whole fairing or just the lights. I think mounting that whole fairing the guy has would sweet.

does anybody have a an exploded view or a parts catalog of the gsxr 400? I'm having trouble visualizing it.

I don't have an exploded view, and I couldn't even find a shot of the front of an '88, but here's a look at the '87, which may help give you a basic idea even though the '88 got all new bodywork. The headlights are mounted in the bodywork and held in place by the fairing bracketry, so they don't bolt-up to the forks at all. This is also why the headlight assembly shown on the ebay link isn't dressed up and pretty looking since the only part that is out for show are the lamps themselves.

a little bit off-topic here: Are the front brake calipers (and discs) of a gsxr400 bolt-on swappalbe on a b4 and is this better quality?

My gut tells me yes, even though i only have one front brake, i'd like to have one in reserve. As for the calipers, better braking is better braking, or is it too much braking?

Nope, you'll need the entire front to make that fit. The GSXR calipers are static, the ones on the single disc Bandit can move to the left or right. So even if the GSXR caliper fits on your current fork it shouldn't be done. Now you have a 310 mm disc (if I'm not mistaken), the GSXR and West German B4 has 290 mm discs.
