Weekend of Drag Racing new pics added
« on: August 10, 2005, 01:34:18 PM »
Well guys had a great weekend of racing a couple of weeks ago. Got 14 runs in, went 4 rounds in the gambler race on Sat. and got knocked out in the 2nd round in elims on Sunday.  Friday day was test and tune and I found out alot about my new combo.
My 4 into 1 Yoshimura pipe can't get enough air with the lid on the air box. I was pulling my hair out trying to jet it for the track till I pulled the lid off. Then WOW, holy crap does this thing ever pull from 8 to 14000. but the bottom end was to rich and I forgot some of my jets. Time to try the 4 into 2 into 1 Yoshi. Motor didn't rev as fast as the other pipe but its much easier to get the jetting dailed in, much more forgiving. Has about the same power as the stock pipe with a slip on as my et's and mph as about the same as other years. Best run was a 13.56 @ 96 mph.
Got to run against a FZR 400 again. Its been years since I have had a chance to run another 400. The last time was at BIR he did a 15.53 @ 78.29 mph. This year the kid ran a 15.70 @ 80 mph. Man are those bikes SLOW!!!!!!!!!!  No wonder the guys who road race then have to cheat and slip in a 600 . Anyhow here are a few pics of the weekend

All loaded up

Awesome, Chris.  I was wondering how you did.  Never remembered when I was online to ask you.

So, you're a Camero fan?

A question about the guy on the FZR.  How would his weight compare to yours?  A buddy and I raced each other on our Ninja 250's and he ran a full three seconds faster than me     His best was a 14.3, while mine was a 17.1   I weighed about 240lbs at the time and he weighed in the neighborhood of 160.  The smaller the bike is the more rider weight affects the horsepower to weight ratio.

That time for the FZR just seems really slow... a ninja 250 faster than it in the qtr ????   The guys at the two-fiddy forum will get a kick outta that!

The guy on the FZR was maybe 150 lbs soaking wet same with the one I raced years ago as well. I'm Ummmmmmmmmmmm   atleast 250 with all my gear on. There was a very good rider there this year who weighed in a 140, he was going to take my bike for a blast but took me too long to get my jetting set up during the test and tune day

Here are a few from a guy who takes the pics and then try to sell them. This guy is out to lunch on his pricing as he wants $25.00 for a 5x7 and it goes up from there.

thats on your gsxr 400????  WOW a second faster. What track were you at.  Thats a slow reaction time, got to be in the .010 to .050 to win around here. Best I cut was a .002 last time out but I also redlighted but .006 twice as well. but you have to expect the old red eye from time to time . to put it into beter perspective my .002 green light was just .008 of a sec slower than my .006 red lights.
Can't believe your that much faster than mine.  lol Maybe its time for a set of those cams eh Jay
