B4 carbs or carb rebuild kit
« on: April 03, 2013, 10:41:59 AM »
I have been trying desperately to find either a rebuild kit for mikuni bst 32 carbs or at least a set of carbs compatible with my 91 B4 (bst 33?) But I cannot find anything anywhere. Someone please help me out or share some info. Thanks!

K&L make after market kits. You can find them on ebay or go to your local dealer for complete after market kits......might asweel do a Factory Pro jet kit too!

Thanks! I'll look into that. Do you have a link to the manufacturers website?

So I found rebuild kits by K&L for 89-2000 gs500e. Doesn't that use mikuni bst 33? And if that's the case would that be a proper kit for my bst 32?

I will. Also, I've been seeing a lot of mikuni vm 32mm carbs around. Is that a totally different style or is that applicable? I'm sorry I'm asking so much, I've literally been researching this for weeks and cant find much..

What part of your carb is leaking? Between the bodies? Or are you looking to replace the o rings in side the bowls?

If its between the individual carbs and you wanted to do it "right" buy a hand full of #64

Personally I'm way too impatient to wait for shipping so I used the kinda dried up (but not cracked, if yours are cracked I'd replace them) ones and some permatex aviation sealant. Unless your bike was a real barn find that should do.

To be honest with you, I don't know much about carbs. When I bought the bike, the guy said he cleaned them out real good but still didn't get the results he wanted and recommended I rebuild them.
I have a buddy that's gonna rebuild them for me, I just need to figure out what parts I need. Like what parts should I replace for sure? Also its only been sitting for maybe a year if that.

Since im unsure of how it ran before and unfamiliar with the carbs, id like to replace any piece that might be questionable or any commonly replaced parts.

If I were you (which I was two years ago) I read everything in this forum about troubleshooting the carbs. Everything you find replacement wise will be dirty and in need of rebuild if not now in very near future. Or spend 1200 buying new ones that would fit. Much cheaper to learn. Or sell the bike.

Then my question is what parts do I need to replace all the parts that commonly fail or need replacement?

Other than the float needles and sometimes the emolsion tubes nothing really wears out other than the rubber bits. The best thing I did for mine was boil them in lemon juice to clean them thoroughly. Learning to rebuild and troubleshoot them is essential IMO.

It's part of the fun in having a cool old bike. When it runs I can assure you that it will get a lot of attention
