Carb synch or something else?
« on: February 09, 2006, 01:34:47 PM »
Did a carb synch on 1st gen bandit 1200. Something isn't right. I did the synch because of excessive vibration last weekend. All was well until yesterday. I ride it daily as a commuter.  The Bike back fired when I started it, scared the crap out of me. All the way home from work the bike was lethargic. No go power on the interstate, throttle response wasn't there.

Two things noted while synching the carbs:

First, the center adjust between 1,2 + 3,4 had no adjustment left when I got done. The carbs were synched but that started me thinking.

Second, I did the synch at 1750 RPM as stated in the manual. When I dialed the idle back down, 1-2 to 3-4 were out of synch again by an 1" of mercury, so I tweaked it, that was when I realized that there was no adjustment left on the screw.

I'm gonna take it apart this weekend to make sure I didn't damage a vaccum line or that one hasn't come off and repeat the carb synch.

Comments please.
