K&N Filter

Hi,

I have had my K&N Filter in for about 500 miles now. The bike runs sweet (once it warms up). But it ran sweet with the old factory filter anyway. The bike is all stock except for the snorkle being removed from the air box.

I paid 50 for the K&N with the cleaning kit included. The stock filter costs any where from 20 to 50 dollars and you have to throw it away every 10k miles. It seems that the K&N is a bargan over the long term.

A bottle of spray to wash the element and some oil to spray on after cleaning. K&N claims the filter will last 1million miles. Although I don't think I'll be riding my bandit that many miles.

Why is that? Do you think you'll get tired of it before then?

Just a hint, adding a K & N filter plus removing the snorkle is going to make your bike super duper lean. I would check the plugs to see what's going on in case. Try putting the snorkle back in to see if it drives even "sweeter". If you drill the mixture plugs and turn them out a touch it will drive even "sweeter". And it will warm up faster. Some people have reported that the K & N filter on the 2G bandit causes weird jetting problems and flat spots. If you have the first gen don't worry about it.

I've put over 5000 miles on my 02 1200S since I've installed my K&N and have experienced no real issues other than it is a little cold natured. I'm a firm believer in the product and run them on all my vehicles!

I have to ask. What is this airbox snorkle everyone mentions?

the air box is where the oxygen is coming from when you go dive in the sea and the snorkle is a tube you use when you go snorklin at the beaches of hawaii.

oh wait, im thinkin of my vacation hahaha

it's a funnel type tubing inside the airbox connected from the hole of on the airbox.
suppose to create a vortex like air suction or something like that.
