2001 b600 fork mod?
« on: December 19, 2008, 04:37:12 PM »
Ok so i did do a lot of serching for an answer before i wrote this, so here is my question.

All of the upgrades to progresive springs and such talk about putting in a 1" diam pvc pipe in to a certain length. Has any one just put in a longer pvc pipe in instead of replacing the spings? Keeping in the old springs and fork oil but just doing the PVC pipe to add compression to the spring.

i am tight on cash and there is snow on the ground and cant ride so i am trying to do some work on the bike!

I DID add extra preload to my stock 2002 springs before I changed fork springs. Yes, it will be a small improvment over stock. I also added about 20ml (cc) of oil to each leg as well. The net result of these two changes were a fork that was OK on very small bumps and OK on big hits at full stroke, BUT that knifed through the centre of the stroke way too quickly.

The net result is a fork that is slightly better than stock, but not great.

Stiffer springs really make a difference.
