ELECTRICAL GREMLIN
« on: May 27, 2008, 12:00:48 PM »
So i take the 98 1200 BANDIT to Deals gap and it runs perfectly for approximately 1000 miles then  after i get it home and ride it for about 100 miles it suddenly quits with no ignition or lights/horn.
Ok so i check the 30 main and its blown,so i replace it and it blows again, now im thinking harness chafing or possibly a faulty ignition switch.
So before i go tearing into this, has anyone had an issue where the main fuse has blown and remain blown when a new one is installed
Up to this point the bike was running ok and had no electrical issues.

Following an update on this issue the fault was in a part of the harness under the tank up by the steering frame gusset. Routed too close to a sharp edge it chafed the insulation, grounded the wires and stopped the bike.
Check your wiring harnes in this region for any such routing issues if not you'll end up with a similiar problem.
