Fairing vibration !
« on: June 05, 2008, 02:47:49 AM »
Hi !

I don't know if anyone has this problem but my fairing shakes a lot (up and down) while riding...

I looked for the problem and it seems to be the rubber spacer on the top bolt of the two bolts attaching the whole fairing to the frame...there is some play there...

I must admit that the roads suck here in Quebec but still... friends that I'm following always tell me it looks like I'm constantly flashing them with the high beam....

Anyone has noticed that ? I tried adding some tape around the nut and screwed it back but it did not change anything...

The play does not seem to be between the bolt and the spacer but between the spacer and the frame itself...

Perhaps I could change the spacer...

Any suggestions ?

Thanks !

Take it off and throw it away.

It will look much better and solve the vibration issue all at once.  :thumb:

Perhaps I could change the spacer...

That part (rubber spacer) is available separately...  often times the bolt assembly has loosened (too many wheelies..  :trustme:) and can be re-torqued to spec.

Thanks but I already tried to retorque the bolt to specs...didn't improve the situation...

As I said it really seems as if the spacer itself shrunk or something...

I've got no problems with mine -- maybe something fell off yours or wasn't installed in the first place?

If you want to swing by for comparison's sake, send me a PM.
