Fuel Capacity
« on: October 28, 2005, 05:41:21 PM »
Anyone know how much fuel a 1G B6 holds? I usually go to 148 miles when I hit Res. but when I fill up it only takes 3.3 gallons. I was wondering how many miles were left while burning Res just in case I'm a ways out from a fuel stop.

Thx

Should hold 5 gallons and take ~4 gallons if you fill up after hitting reserve. Some bikes seem to have bigger or smaller than the standard 1 gallon of reserve.

Also, if the tank's been dented it might not hold the full amount anymore either.

Hmm... 5 gallons you say.  Well I have no dents. Maybe the main fuel tube is a bit to tall.

Thx Paul.

I also hit reserve anywhere from 3.3 gal - 3.8 gal.  Depends on whether I am taking corners or driving straight line.  More often I'm driving straight line and my gas doesn't run over the main line tube so I have to switch to reserve to soon.

The 96 fuel capacity is 19 liters, 2G is 20 liters.  I think I put 4.8 gallons in mine when I rode it dry this last Spring. :duh: , but I may be filling it up just shy of where someone else may fill it too.

Thx Nathan  :thanks:

I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one hitting resv so soon. Kind of strange to hit resv with a gallon and a half still left in the tank. I figure a 1/4 to 1/2 would be better. I get about 48mpg so 1/2 a gallon would give me a 24 mile range on reserve. That would be plenty, plus it would give me another 72 miles of driving time before I had to switch over. So I guess the way it is now I have approx 96 miles left once I hit resv! Man, I can't think of to many parts of the country where I would be 96 miles from fuel !
But I love my Bandit and this is only a minor quirk.

Travel the West and you'll appreciate the large reserve.
