Has anyone tried gearing down as low as a 50 tooth rear sprocket?I ordered a 50 tooth rear and a non O-ring chain to go with it for the track. I'm thinking the lower gears will top out quick. But I'm hoping 4th gear will be just right around Nelson Ledges. Its mostly 4th gear around the track and its taking too long to build rpm once staightened back up.

I run a 52 tooth at the dragstrip with no problem.
If I didn't have a Suzuki, I would have a Kawasaki

If it's a track thing, why not just bring a 14 tooth front along and use it for the duration? It runs almost eactly the same ratio (3.1 instead of 3.0) and doesn't require another chain or more teeth. Last, why go to a non-o-ring chain??? A '76 Kawi 650 I can see with that (mine had a Hog chain) but the B12?

I found out that it apperently is a common mod to go up 2 teeth in the rear.  It doesn't affect the overall drivability, but apparently makes a big difference.  I just ordered a new 47 tooth sprocket and I am going to try it with my x-ring chain that I just bought.  Also if you really want to make a difference, switch to a 520 chain setup.  I know of a few guys that did it and said that it made a big difference in power.  I have seen them on Ebay for $130 for the sprockets and chain.  The only thing about the 520 setup that I would be concerned with is having to change the chain more often.  Mine is a daily rider, weather permitting.

Actully changing the counter shaft would be easier except I've read in the past on other Bandit sites that any smaller on the stock counter was to tight. Thats what I used to do yrs ago on my flattracker Bultaco,I had different countershafts for short track/TT,1/3 mile and 1/2 mile.
   As far as canging the chain more often, that doesn't matter either. I have my 48 tooth rear for the street along with a new O-ring that I can change along with the wheels/tires when I get back.
  The do-it-all bike! stuff for the track,change back to comuting,or ready for a road trip. :motorsmile:

I have a 13,14,15 and 16 front sprockets and from 43. 45, 46, 47, 48, and 52 tooth rear sprockets. I run 530 non-o'ring drag chain. The only problem is with the 13 tooth, the chain will rub the swing arm, I only run the 13 tooth with a strut and wheelie bars.
