GS1200SS Clutch ?

Hi
Does anyone have any idea how well the 1200 clutch handles drag starts ?
What I mean is I have been doing a bit of Drag racing on my GS1200SS this year but I haven't been launching it real hard.
But soon I will have my two step rev limiter setup and will be launching at a lot higher revs.
So how well do they handle it ?
If they don't then what mods do we do ?

Not sure that it has problems with being slipped, but it does have problems coping with more power. Mine now has Barnett plates and springs. Standard clutch was fine until the engine was tuned, at which point it just let go whenever the revs hit 6000rpm on large throttle openings. Now works fine but the clutch is a lot heavier.

I changed mine out for a GSXR clutch, I am using the outer basket from the 89 model, and the inter hub from  the 86 model, so I have coil springs instead of the cone type. It is an easy swap if you can come up with the parts. The sales manager at a local Suzuki shop gave me most of the new parts I needed.

I assume the GS1200SS has the same clutch as a B12 (diaphragm springs) and not the coil spring type BHolland is referring to.

Fast Larry's Bandit FAQ has a parts list of what you need to do the conversion to the coil spring clutch:

1x 92 GSXR 1100 clutch outer basket (part # 21200-40821),
1x 92 Katana 1100 inner hub (part# 21410-06B03),
1x 92 Katana outer pressure disc (part# 21462-06B00),
1x set, GSXR steel and fiber clutch plates (part# 21400-40C01),
1x extra fiber plate (part# 21442-48B00),
4x springs (part# 09440-20018),
4x bolts (part# 09116-06171),
4x spacer/bushing (part #09180-06174),

3x of a 1" ID flatwasher from hardware store... you need these to
correct the basket-to-nut spacing,
1x of a 7/16" ball bearing to correct pushrod length.
Remove the drive gear from the back of the OEM basket and re-install
it on the new part.
