Questions 4 1st gen B12 Clutch plates, Rear shock from Busa.

Hello all! Hope i'm in the right forum & this hasn't been asked before!!!     Anyone got info on how long clutch plates etc  will last on the 1st gen B12. Ive had it from new, not a rip off the line person, most of the 29k on my bike is I95. No problems @ the moment, but would like to have items on hand. Also is the rear shock from the busa 1300 a direct fit or ????

Clutchs on bikes, like cars, last as long as the owner wants them to.  There is really no set mileage figure.  You'll know when they go bad, the clutch will start slipping (worn friction discs) or not disengaging properly (warped discs).  If you have this problem, make sure your hydraulics are  working properly before tear down.  My old gixxer 1100 had 61,000 miles on it and I think it clutch was original when I replaced it.  As for the busa shock, lots of threads in here about it and i'm sure you'll be getting a response

The Busa shock is generally a 2G mod. I've heard of a few doing it to 1G's on other sites. I don't know if we have a member here with one on a 1G or not. The Busa shock will raise the tail more on a 1G unless you install longer dogbones to counter it. I know there's a minor trimming mod that needs to be done on a 2G's airbox (covered in the FAQ), so it wouldn't surprise me if you have to do the same on a 1G - or ditch the airbox for pods.

You have to do some serious filling/grinding on the 1G to make the busa shock work.  Don't do it!  Square hole vs. round peg kinda thing... Just buy a Progressive 420 and be done with it.

On a 2G you're gonna be OK with the busa shock but ride height will be different.

I'm running the GSXR shock, that I had rebuilt by Linderman, on my 98 B 12. It bolted right in.
