Exhaust Applications
« on: June 17, 2006, 12:44:58 AM »
I am somewhat confused about what fits what. I want to get a new muffler and mid pipe for my 99 b12.  So why do some manufacturers specify some systems only fit gen 1 or 2 models when others say they fit all models???   I understand the muffler itself, one being a 3 bolt flange type like my b12, and the other being a slip on with a split sleeve and clamp.  Other than the mating type between the two, is there any other difference?

Also has anyone heard of the "Carbon Can Co." and if their products are decent?  They have a nice looking stainless steel oval can and midpipe (what they call link pipe) for roughly 200 clams on Ebay.  Sounds like a good deal but it could be a POS.

Thanks

Jason

If it is standard sweep (not a high mount) and comes with a mid-pipe, it'll fit ANY B12 or B6. Vendors that don't show this haven't updated their catalogs.

If it doesn't come with a mid-pipe (ie; bolt-on), it won't fit a B6 or a '04-up B12 and will be 1G or 2G specific. The bolt pattern is the same on the bolted on cans of the 1 & 2G, but they are clocked differently.

Thanks Paul, that puts my mind at ease on that subject.  Now I have a greater selection to choose from.   :thanks:
