So last week I had the shop check the carbs and idle speed (as a PM thang) and they did adjust the carbs.  I think I have grasp on the concept from questions we've covered here in the past, but I was curious about their notes:

"Carb 1 & 2 even
Carb 3 & 4 1 CM off
Carb set 1 & 2 off 1 CM"

I would read "Carb 3 & 4 1 CM off" as meaning those two were not in sync.  Instead, it appears they matched 1 & 2 to 3 & 4.  Isn't that like me singing "Oh! Canada" off-key simply because Jim does, rather than teaching him to sing ON key? (They don't call it "Canadian Idol", ya know.)

Carbs?!?  Carbs?!?  What the frick??  I thought those were four fuel injectors!!!  I want a refund!!

BTW, is it true the Bandit is being discontinued BECAUSE of the carbs and emissions? To be replaced by the fuel injected B-King 600??

RIP - RIDE IN PERPETUITY!

It is rumored the old-school engine, with it's carbs and air cooling might not be able to pass tough new Euro emissions that are due in '08. The US (and Canada, which uses US guidelines) emissions are supposed to be tougher then, too - but for once EU will be tougher than even CA's regs.

Sven, #3 is considered the master carb, so you balance 3/4 to 3 and then 1/2 to 3.

So there's nothing particularly "good" or "bad" about a particular setting.  3 & 4 did not match, so 4 was made to draw even with 3, and then 1&2 were made to match as well.  OK, that works for me.  Thanks!
