Negative side of coils ?
« on: December 30, 2005, 09:53:09 PM »
Hi
How do I check which terminals are the negative terminals on the coils ?
My GS1200SS has black and black/orange for one coil.
Black/yellow and black/orange for the other coil.
I am fitting a Dyna shift minder and the instruction say that the negative terminals are the ones connected to the ignition module. But all of the wires going to the coils come from the ignition module so thats no help.
So does any one know how I check ?
Thanks
Richard

the two wires that are the same color are positive. You can disconnect all 4 wires, turn the ignitition on and the two positive wires will be hot, or will have voltage, the negative wires will not.
If I didn't have a Suzuki, I would have a Kawasaki

Hi
Thanks for that.
I found some info today that also told me that the two wires that are the same color will be the positive.
Off to race at the opening of the new track here in NZ tomorrow.
Should be fun and I hope to win again...need the points.
Will post up a report in the Drag Junkies post.
Thanks
